Summer Days

Okay, so I recently got a FEW emails asking me what Lu and I do all summer? Seriously??? Have you been reading my blog? LOL, have I become a lazy blogger? So I thought I would take my camera with me more often ... and just continue to keep snapping pictures ...
I actually think those emails are because alot of people have said how do you find stuff to do it rains and when it doesn't its too hot to be outside, yes it does rain and boy is it hot, but you adjust once you live in FL your entire life.

When its raining we go to the library .. ALOT, Lu loves the library, we go atleast once a week if not twice.
She checks out 5 books at a time (bc I feel we can keep track better with this amount) And she loves having different books to choose from for her bedtime stories and what not, she also likes to take them in the car with her to read!
We also stay indoors and color alot, Lu loves to color. Aunt Britt got her these cute flip flop shoes that you can color and make your "own" and Lu did that for an entire afternoon. This is her masterpiece, arent they beatiful?? She certainly is PROUD!

And when its not raining, well yes the hot weather is GREAT for a slip n slide adventure! Lu and her friend Kat had an afternoon of waterfun. (you can not have a slip n slide without a pot full of soapy water)
so when its hot, play in water, thats my theory and it works!

and if you are afraid of the water ... just swing, the cool breeze is nice when you swing too!

I thought I would snap a pic of this awsome double rainbow!!!
So now you see what we've been up to for the last week or so, and this morning we are going to the library again, this time as a playdate to see the "circus" at the library!

Letter Exchange

Lu has become interested in receiving mail from new places, weather it be across the country or just around the corner, she has recently found joy in hearing from other people and in return saying hello to other people as well, she started last week with these letters to her cousins that just live 2 hours away. I told her we didn't know anyone else to write letters to except granny (which I am sure my mom would love to get mail from Lu, but Lu said she didn't want to send a letter to an "old" person (sorry mom) just a young kid like her LOL. So I got this idea about the letter exchange from 4 Crazy Kings. It would be fun to have her send out her drawings to "friends" in hopes of receiving a letter/drawing in exchange. If you are interested in participating please leave a comment below. Lu will send your child a letter and in return we ask that you send one back. Please include who the letter is being sent to, your country or state and an email so I can contact you. Do not list your address for security reasons. I will contact you via email.

Hope you will decide to join in!

Kid Friendly Friday - Ice cream Social

I know I know, we are SOOO late on our Kid Friendly Friday post, I mean gee whiz its almost Saturday LOL ... but if you knew the horribly busy busy day I've had you just might cut me a little slack! I am sure glad to be doing the KFF post again!!
Our Kid Friendly Friday is Ice cream Social, and If your like me, living in the sunny ... OH I mean RAINY Florida, than you know how important it has been to find indoor activities, because for the last 3 almost solid weeks, its been HOT, HUMID, and RAINY so what better than to do other than an ICE CREAM SOCIAL!
Lu and I had a few friends over on Wednesday, we had a good time chattering and mingling with our freinds ...
and of course all the kiddies LOVED to decorate their ice cream with these oh so ever sweet toppings!

Decorating of course took the kids longer than it did to eat, and they all went back for seconds ... what a surprise! And as always what more Kid Friendly than ice cream????

Kids in The Kitchen- Reeces Peanut Butter Hay Stacks!

Goodmorning everyone! This week has been awful busy for us ... and even though its rained everyday for a week we have still managed to keep on the go! Got to love the summer! I never knew there were so many indoor activities you could do ... The things that happen when you get creative! :)
So I went Easy for this weeks Kids in The Kitchen, with our no-bake reeces peanut butter haystacks, ok anything with chocolate and peanut butter in them you know is DELISH! And Lu had a blast eating, I mean making them! Lets get started!

No Bake Cookies- Reeces Peanut Butter Hay Stacks!
This is what you'll need ... 1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of milk choc. morsels, and 1 and 1/4 cup of chow mein noodles (can be found in the international food section of any grocery store.)

You'll need to measure and pour the morsels, and by the time Lu got done picking at them, we has a little less than a cup :) Place in microwave for 1 min.
mix the peanut butter in AFTER choc is melted. Lu did love the spoon! I actually have a picture of her eating off it several times, I dont know why I didn't put it on here, shame on me! Measure out the noodles, and then pour then into the choc/peanut butter mixture, and lightly stir, or fold in. I wish people could actually see her in action when she is doing this stuff, it is quite hilarious sometimes, and I don't post the "blooper" pictures, but I should, she is a "big" girl now and INSIST that I let her do EVERY part, no matter if at the end you could lick the counter top because they taste so good, just like reeces. Anyhow, the next step is obvious place them on some prachment paper, and the recommened time is 2 hr chill in the fridge, which we never follow because we are to anxious to eat, so 15 mins in the freezer works just fine!
Don't they look delsih?? YUM (this is before they are chilled)
My big girl even washes the dishes ..... Oh I think this is the reason we really have kids LOL!
As always, grab a button and join in, get your Kids in the Kitchen and have fun, it could be anything from kid friendly recipes, no bake items, baked items, dinner, lunch, hey it could be play dough you can eat ... lets have some fun, our kids will only be little for so long!!!
Again, Please dont forget to link your page in my comment section, and last week I tried something new take a look, at the end of the evening I linked everyone's page to the bottom of mine so that everyone can easily click and go straight to the people's pages that have participated, I am giving Mr. Linky a rest and doing it my way for a little while. Thanks for paricipating!!!
Christina - Quesdillas
Brandy - Jellyrolls
Holly - Key Lime Pie
I Don't know what happened but the link think wouldn't work right, so thats why the last one's (cabbages and kings) link is so long, but she made Eggs withe her kidddies.

Writting Letters

So last night I came up with the idea after Lu visited her cousins that live almost 2 hours away, that she write them a weekly letter. I know she misses them dearly, and doesn't get to see nearly enough because of the distance. But the distance holds nothing to the love these 3 cousins share between one another.
As soon as I mentioned it, of course Lu was on board, and I thought it was a great idea because at their ages, getting a letter in the mail with their name written on it is like the highlight of a week! So she sat down this afternoon, broke out the markers and bingo dobbers, and began to write away, the above picture if you look closely her lips are puckered together as she is sounding out the words she wants to write.

Aidman's says "Thank you for playing with me Sunday, I can not wait to see you soon, Love Laney"
Lissy's says "I had fun dressing up at your house, Love Laney"
Of course with hearts drawn all over to make it more "prettier"

The front was all decorated like a pretty card, with their names on the front.... Off to an envelope and ..... Into the mailbox they went! Maybe this will hold her over inbetween visits!
