Wordful Wednesday- Last year's Beach Trip

When I was going through my pictures today for Wordful Wednesday I stumbled upon these, which are some of my favortie pics of me and Lu last year at the beach! I love the beach, and every year we seem to only go once or twice! Last year we didn't even go in the summer till beg. of July, and we went for my ne[hews bday party, isnt that sad??
So, This year I am COMMITED to going more, we went a couple weeks ago and we are going this weekend, so we are off to a good start, Lu is a beach fanatic!

These pictures are wonderful at capturing special moments, the first of the wave crashing into us, its not often you get such a good picture like that, and the second one of me picking her up after the wave pumbled us LOL, and in this last one Laney is talking to me! I love special days!

Silly Kids!

Who doesn't just love the dollar store? I know I do, we all go in there for deals, or to get craft stuff, or small toys for our children, you know normal stuff. But not in my case, we go to the dollar store to waste time, and of course to try on hats! Lots of them!
Joshy liked them so much, that he bought them for his co-workers, now thats a picture I'd like to take, a team of grown men, wearing these "beatiful, big, bold hats"

While Joshy and his co-workers may look cute, my little Lu well of course shes soo much cuter!

I don't even know what this one is about, and Joshy well he just looked goofy, glad that hat stayed behind.
Non-the less I am sure the employees at the dollar store just loved us, and instead of going for great deals I of course went for the comedy of my grown fiancee buying silly hats! The bigger question here is why oh why my camera was with me at the dollar store? Because my friends this was not a planned adventure, but all to great at the look on Joshy's face when I did break out the camera!

Welcome to the first edition of KIDS IN THE KITCHEN! Glad to have you. There is a brief description of the blog carnival here.

I am going to start off with something so simple ... Fruit Pops, but folks heres why look at what I am working with!
Yes my friends thats fruit and alot of it, left over from Lu's Birthday party I didn't want it to go to waste, so whats a girl to do, well have Lu make some yummy refreshing fruit pops, afterall its summer and we are in florida so its HOT!
Step 1: Pour your fruit in a cup (Lu has a plastic one for easy holding) and then have your child pour the fruit in the blender.

Step 2: Add honey, as much as you'd like we did about 2 tbsps., We also added sugar about 2 tbsps as well.
Step 4: Blend (Lu says you must hold the top, just incase you don't want to clean up mess if the top flies off and splatters around the room)

Step 5: I poured the juice mixture into a measuring cup for Lu because it has a little spout at the end and is easily manageable for her to pour, she then poured the mixture into the pop holders.

Step 6: FREEZE them ... I sent Lu to summer camp, and when she came home they were ready to eat!

Step 7: EAT
Lu's comment was: WOW mom I really am a chef, mmm this is good!

Beach Day Fun

Man did we ever have a BUSY weekend with birthday parties and beaches, I am tired, I can't keep up! Joshy's grandma invited us to go to the beach out at Treasure Island where she has a timeshare, and I was dying to go bc its the first weekend of summer, and I knew Lu would love it!This is one of my favorite pics of all time, of my two loves! aren't they adorable!
I tried Lu's floatie divise on for size, it was okay going on, but taking it off was a total different story LOL .. you shoulda seen it!
Joshy and Lu played with the water balls for a good long time, then we formed a triangle and all played together!
I love this little girl and her smile! Isn't she adorable!!

And my dear sweet Joshy built me my dream house outta sand HAHA! I think he loves the bucket more than Lu
This was HILARIOUS .. Laney put on her goggles first thing when we got there and dipped her head in the water to see what she could see with her 2nd pair of eyes! (If you look close I think she has the googles on in every pic)

Shes just coming up from looking under the water, you shoulda seen her eyes! Shes too much!

And of course we went back to the pool, where Lu swam even more, shes like a little fish, you have to drag her outta the water! We have plans to try and go to the beach at least every couple weeks this summer!

Birthday Party Fun

Before I begin I must say I cropped the photos down so that only my child and sisters children will be seen, because I don't like posting other children without permission!

Now here we go, I planned this "candy themed" party for what seemed like a year, and it was GREAT we had candy every where, LOTS AND LOTS of it, in jars and canisters, vases, trifile bowls, clear cupcake holders, glasses ... I mean it was like a candy fantasy LAND! I love this pic of my little Lu she recieved the googles in a beach pail filled with goodies from aunt Bran and she loves them!!!
The kids bounced in the bounce house, we had great fun, and the lady was nice enough to leave it for extra time so we had our own "family" time after all the guests left!

We made candy kabobs, Lissy is so proud of hers, don't you love it?? YUM!

Aidman did'nt want to get his hands "sticky" so he made his outta cheeto puff balls, HAHA! creative little boy, but the funny part is those slide better on the kabob stick then the candy did!

I ordered plain COLORFUL iced cupcakes from the local grocery store, and I asked for a couple extra cupcake holders, I then filled them empty spots of the cupcake holders with chocolate, butterscotch, and white choc morsels, colored sugar, sprinkles, m&ms, and colored coconut .. and we let the kids decorate their own cupcakes with the candy ... YUM! heres Lu's masterpiece (They loved this project!)
I also got large bubblewands from the dollar store wrapped them in irridescent cellephane and tied a ribbon around them, they looked like large lollipops, and the kids had fun playing with bubbles too.
At the end we gave each child an empty goodie bag, let them fill it with candy of their choice from each jar, and tied a toothbrush to it!! :) see I am trying to prevent candy cavities :)
All little Lu's best girl friends from school came, so she was in HEAVEN!
After all the kiddies left, My sis Bran and her kiddos stayed over, we let them play on the slip n slide my mom got for Lu. She LOVES IT!

Lissy looks so cute, priceless pic!

and Aidman too, These 3 kids love to spend time together so we took advantage of the fact they were there and let the kids play ALL day, wish they lives closer!

After everyone was gone and we had special family time in the bouncer, Lu changed into her pajamas and had a field day ... see those googles still?? LOL ... yes she slept good that night! I'm glad she had fun!

Kid Friendly Friday - Marshmallow Pops

YAY! Its Friday, TGIF!!! I have been super super busy this week finishing the touches on Lu's B-day party for tomorrow! I remembered how much FUN I have planning a B-day Party (HAHA) - I must be CRAZY - Lu and I didn't do a blog about making a dessert this Wed. bc it was her actual B-day that day and we took her for dinner, so I thought today she could knock out 2 things in one sitting, she and I could do our normal making something {since it's been so hectic we haven't hardly stepped foot in the kitchen} and we could also make something for the guest at her party! Just incase no one knows she is having a "candy themed" party so we made marshmallow lolipops - HOW much FUN-
First stick the marshmallow onto a popcicle stick.

Dip in milk chocolate (melt per directions on the bag, you only need 1/2 a bag for 20 pops)

Dip in whatever you wish, we did several thing, one of them being sprinkles, shown above and below.

and then I took regular sugar, and food coloring, made blue and pink colored sugar, dipped into that, I also made yellow coconut, also with food coloring!

VOILA .. that simple, I even let Lu sneak one in ... thats her UNHEALTHY snack for the day!
Very kid friendly, very fun for the kids to do, and for more of Kid Friendly Fridays Jump on over to I Blame My Mother
